Pipemaking is by no means my primary occupation. During the day I am an eighth grade
science teacher in Lancaster, California; the small, desert town where I was born and raised.
When the bell rings at the end of the day, I go to my second and more important job: being
the best dad I can possibly be for my twin girls, Lucille and Grace. After twelve years of
marriage, my wife Christina and I were blessed with these two wonderful little girls in
November of 2009 and our lives have never been more full, both in an emotional sense and
in the newfound lack of free time. Pipemaking is my passion but it does retain its rightful
place in my list of priorities. Not surprisingly, I have little time in the shop and, for the
time being, my production will be limited to around twenty-five pipes a year. This lack of
quotas and deadlines gives me the freedom to focus completely on one pipe at a time and
to ensure that quality is first and foremost.
